This page describes how to register a M55 handset or M58 deskset to the M500 base station. It covers auto registration and manual registration methods.
Import the following setting values to M500 via provisioning.
Dual-cell configuration
Import these setting values to the primary base station.
Enter a line for cordless.x.ipei for each handset/deskset you want to auto-register:
cordless.autoreg_enable = 1 cordless.x.ipei = <ipei>

Using the base station’s IP address, open the base station’s WebUI in a web browser.
Dual-cell configuration
This must be the primary base station's WebUI.
To check, click Status in the WebUI sidebar, and then click Base Status. See which base station IP address is set to “Primary” mode. Open the WebUI for this IP address.
When you power up the handset/deskset for the first time, it will attempt to auto-register to the base station. Auto-registration will be successful only if you have set up the M500 configuration file with the handset/deskset IPEI, or you have entered the handset/deskset IPEI on the primary base station’s WebUI.
Make sure the base station is connected to power and the network.
Dual-cell configuration
Make sure the handset/deskset to be registered is in close proximity to the primary base station (indicated by a steady green or slowly flashing red
SIP LED).If registration is successful:
The handset/deskset beeps and displays "Handset registered"/"Deskset registered", and then displays the idle screen
If registration fails:
The handset/deskset beeps and displays "Registration failed."
a. Press OK.
The handset/deskset displays “Device not registered to base station.”
b. Press IPEI to display the IPEI and serial number of the handset/deskset. Give these numbers to your phone administrator.
c. Press Back.
d. To manually register your handset, follow the steps in Manual Registration via LINK key on base or Manual Registration via Start key on Base WebUI.
Make sure the base station is connected to power and the network.
If the handset/deskset is displaying the following screen:
a. Press Cancel.
The handset/deskset displays "Registration failed."
b. Press OK.
The handset/deskset displays the following screen.
Press and hold the LINK key on the base station for four seconds.

c. Try to register again; go to step 3.
