Introduction

This page describes how to set up Busy monitoring on the M500.


What is Busy Monitoring?

The busy monitor is similar to the Busy Lamp Field (BLF) function available on SIP desksets. Busy Monitoring, as the name implies, provides the ability for a user to monitor other users within the M500 when they are available or when they are active on a call. Busy monitoring can be configured on a Programmable Feature Key (PFK) on both the M55 or the M58. If the monitored user is on a call, the PFK LED will be red. If the monitored user is not BUSY and is idle, the PFK LED will be green. Pressing the PFK when the monitored user is idle will initiate an intercom call to the monitored user.

Please refer to the example below that uses PFK 5 to show a monitored user in idle state.

                             


Busy monitoring will not indicate the monitored user's ringing state, nor can remote pickup be performed.


Configuring Busy Monitor

Busy monitor is supported via one of the available programmable feature key types: Dect Busy Monitoring (DBM)

WebUI

  1. On the System → Programmable Keys page, select the handset or deskset that you want to use for monitoring other users. 

  2. On the PFK that you select for DBM, click on the Type list and select "Dect Busy Monitoring". Click on the Value box, and enter the device ID (1-48) of the handset or deskset that you want to monitor. 



  3. Repeat the above steps for each additional handset or deskset that you want to monitor.

Provisioning

Import the following setting values to M500 via provisioning for each PFK that you want to assign for DBM. 

  • Substitute 'x' with the device number (1-48) that you want to use for monitoring other users.
  • Substitute 'y" with the PFK index (M55 range: 1-6; M58 range: 1-24) that you select for DBM. 
  • Substitute <device ID> with the device ID of the handset or deskset that you want to monitor.
