D7 expansion module

The built-in USB hub of the D7 expansion module, with a hardware revision < R4, has a hardware limitation, preventing the usage of a headset and cascading other D7 expansion modules at the same time. 

By default, the USB stack is configured to allow daisy chaining up to 3 modules. In this configuration, connecting a USB headset to a D7 won't work correctly (no audio). 

To circumvent this, a new setting has been introduced in firmware version 8.9.3.66: enable_ehci

On a D715, D717, D725, D735, D745, D765

On these phone types, the setting enable_ehci can have two possible values:

1. Off: connected USB headsets will work properly, with a single D7 connected, but daisy-chaining additional D7 expansion modules is not possible.
2. On: Daisy-chaining of up to three D/ expansion modules is supported, but USB headset connected to the D7 won't work properly.

On a D785

On the D785 the setting enable_ehci is not present and therefore also off, as this model can't handle ehci. Daisy-chain is not possible, but USB headsets plugged into a single D7 expansion modules connected should work correctly.

White D7 and new D7 black - hardware revision R4 and higher

If you have a white D7 or a black D7 of hardware revision R4 or higher, using this as the first device in the chain, will solve this issues explained above and support to use older hardware revision D7 models behind it.
Again, the setting enable_ehci must be set to off.

Snom D3 Expansion module

Similar to D7 white and new D7 black R4 or higher, the USB hub element inside the D3 expansion module is able to handle both a USB headset and multiple D3 modules at the same time. As this requires the setting enable_ehci to be set to Off, permanently, the setting is removed from the D3xx series.

D7 Erweiterungsmodul

Der eingebaute USB-Hub des D7-Erweiterungsmoduls, mit der Hardware-Revision < R4, hat eine Hardware-Einschränkung, die die Verwendung eines Headsets bei gleichzeitiger Verwendung weiterer kaskadierender D7-Erweiterungsmodule verhindert.

Standardmäßig ist der USB-Stack so konfiguriert, dass er eine Verkettung von bis zu 3 Modulen ermöglicht. In dieser Konfiguration funktioniert die Verwendung eines USB-Headsets am D7 nicht korrekt (kein Audio).

Um dies zu umgehen, wurde in der Firmware-Version 8.9.3.66 eine neue Einstellung eingeführt: enable_ehci

An einem D715, D717, D725, D735, D745, D745, D765

Bei diesen Telefontypen kann die Einstellung enable_ehci zwei mögliche Werte haben:

1. Off: Angeschlossene USB-Headsets funktionieren einwandfrei, mit einem einzigen D7, jedoch ist eine Verkettung zusätzlicher D7-Erweiterungsmodule nicht möglich.
2. On: Die Verkettung von bis zu drei D7-Erweiterungsmodulen wird unterstützt, aber das an einem der D7 verbundene USB-Headset funktioniert nicht richtig.

An einem D785

Beim Telefon D785 ist das Setting enable_ehci nicht vorhanden und damit automatisch aus (Off), da dies Model ehci nicht handhaben kann. Eine Verkettung mehrerer D7-Erweiterungsmodule ist nicht möglich, aber an einem einzigen D7 angeschlossene USB-Headsets sollten funktionieren.

Weiße D7 und neue D7 - Hardware-Revision R4 und höher

Wenn Sie ein weißes D7 oder ein schwarzes D7 der Hardware-Revision R4 haben, verwenden Sie diese als erstes Gerät in der Kette. Dies löst die zuvor beschriebenen Probleme und es können auch D7-Modelle der älteren Hardware-Revisionen dahinter verwendet werden.
Auch hier muss die Einstellung enable_ehci auf off gesetzt werden.

D3 Erweiterungsmodul

Ähnlich dem D7 weiß und dem neuen D7 schwarz R4 oder höher, ist das eingebaute USB-Hub-Element des D3-Erweiterungsmoduls in der Lage, sowohl ein USB-Headset als auch mehrere D3-Module gleichzeitig zu bedienen. Da dies voraussetzt dass die Einstellung enable_ehci permanent Off sein muss, wurde diese aus derD3xx Serie entfernt.
