In this howto we want to show how the C520 Bluetooth function can be used in daily life. It's interesting that you can connect the C520 to a headset, as well as to a PC and even a mobile phone.

Usage purpose:

  1. Headset

WIf you want to use the C520 temporarily like a normal phone, you can use basically any Bluetooth capable headset via Bluetooth. How to do this is explained later in this article. (Snom cannot guarantee the function of every headset).

  2. Using with a PC

If you want to use a meeting solution on your PC/laptop with Bluetooth support, you can pair the C520 via BT as a "cellular" device. It will be recognized in the PC as a headset. Both the built-in microphone and the small microphones connected via DECT can be used. In our test we tried it with Google Hangouts and it worked without any problems. Any other solution that allows the use of a headset should work the same way.

  3. Use with a mobile phone

You can pair the C520 as a "Cellular" device, just like with a PC, and use it as a headset. We have also used Google Hangouts for testing purposes.

Introduction

Here we will describe how to set up a headset on the C520 and how to connect the C520 to a PC. The setup on a mobile phone is mainly based on the description of the PC connection. Since the connection to a mobile phone is not officially supported, we will not go into this further in this article.

Setup - Laptop/PC

Here we describe the connection to a typical Windows PC with integrated Bluetooth. In contrast to a headset, a PC is added as a "Cellular Device", just like a mobile phone.
As mentioned, we tested the C520 on the PC with Google Hangouts.

  1. The C520 shows something like this on the display at the start of the setup:

  2. First press the gear button . The Main Menu appears:

  3. Confirm with the hook button . The "Features Menu" appears:

  4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Bluetooth" menu item or press "2" and confirm with the hook button .

  5. The "Bluetooth" menu appears.

  6. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the menu item "Add device" or press "2" and confirm with the hook button .

  7. The "Add device" menu appears.

  8. Confirm with the hook button. A search message appears.

  9. Now activate the device search in your Windows 10 computer. To do this, open the "Settings" in Windows 10:

  10.  Now click on the + sign at "Add Bluetooth or other device".

  11.  A search window appears in which the C520 is recognized as a headset.

ATTENTION: Although it is a "Cellular Device" for the C520, it is treated as a headset in the PC.

  12. If the device is properly recognized, the following screen appears:

  13. It then appears under "Bluetooth and other devices" in the "Audio" segment with the entry "C520".

  14. The C520 is now successfully set up. In our test we used Google Hangouts.
Here the C520 appeared correctly in the configuration.
