When configuring a SIP extension on an M-series base station (M300, M400, M700 or M900) you can set different parameters, some of which are required for the SIP registration
It may happen that the SIP Extension itself, as in the screenshot below, isn't something you would want to show on the display of an handset
With a configuration as in the screenshot above, the handset will show both the Extension and the Display Name on the display as below, and this can look untidy for some
In the Server menu of the web interface, you will find a parameter called "Show Extension on Handset Idle Screen" which is enabled by default
By disabling that, the Extension will not be shown anymore, while only the Display Name will stay on the handset's display (WARNING: this require a reboot of all the handsets to actually show on the display)
If you aren't configuring your base station via the web interface, but via configuration or provisioning file, the parameter you would need to change is called srv_sip_show_ext_name_in_hs and has an index that depends on which SIP Server it needs to apply
