The M9B Beacon Gateway is a solution to integrate high-profile location and asset tracking as well as alarm systems into any existing Snom DECT multi-cell system*.

The Snom M9B can be powered by battery as well as by USB power adapter, making it flexible and retrofit table to almost any location.

Introduction

The Snom M9B Beacon Gateway works as a Bluetooth satellite that is connected to an M900 DECT base station via a DECT data connection. The beacon itself constantly sends out Bluetooth signals to scan registered devices in its vicinity. The 4 antennas integrated in the M9B enable precise live location of a registered device thanks to beam forming in the near-field range of 1-15 meters. Depending on the configured option (Rx or Tx), this information is sent directly or indirectly to the nearest M900 base station in real time. (More information can be found here: DECT Beacons - Rx, Tx)

At the same time, the M9B is compatible with many Bluetooth beacons from well-known manufacturers such as iBeacon, AltBeacon or Eddystome.

Features:

  • Enables the realization of professional live location, asset tracking and alarm solutions**.
  • Can be retrofitted anywhere thanks to flexible power supply
  • 4 integrated antennas enable beam forming for position determination
  • Compatible with many popular beacon manufacturers
  • Wireless data connection to existing M900 DECT base stations

*Snom M9B Beacon Gateways can only be operated with M900 multi-cell DECT base stations
**In many applications third party software is required

Snom Beacons

A beacon acts as a base station and enables client-side communication with devices and so-called "tags". The beacons communicate with the end devices and the existing DECT base stations. In this way, a wide variety of scenarios can be mapped, including indoor navigation, theft protection, inventory management, tracking solutions and much more. The advantage of beacons is obvious. On the one hand, they are inexpensive to purchase, can be installed with minimal effort and, thanks to the BLE standard (Bluetooth Low Energy), consume hardly any electricity. In addition, beacons normally do not affect existing infrastructures such as WLAN, DECT or mobile telephony. Even medical devices remain undisturbed.
