Introduction
Starting with firmware BSV760B300 a new feature called Global Keys has been introduced on the M400 and M900 (and all related DECT handsets)
This allows to set up a maximum of 12 quick numbers to be recovered from a list, which isn't the directory on the handset: these can be used to call any frequent number, but the feature also supports characters like * or # or +, allowing to use specific codes quickly if needed
The list itself and all 12 entries can be assigned with a name, to avoid confusion
WARNING
The assigned Global Keys will be identical for all handsets and all lines in the DECT system
The Global Keys icon will overwrite the central directory icon on the handset, so the central directory will only be accessible via the main menu
Basics
- Up to 12 names and number sets that can be set
- Support for ASCII characters and UTF-8 compatible (if the DECT handsets supports it)
- Names and numbers supported for up to 24 characters in ASCII
- Numbers only support valid numbers: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,*, #,+
- Configurable via WUI and provisioning
- Handset can show title, names & number as set up on the base station(s)
- The Global Keys can be viewed in a dedicated menu on the handset
Setup via WUI
To set this up on the web interface, you can head to the Extensions→Global Keys menu: this is available only if the base is at least on firmware BSV760B300, and there is at least one registered handsets on the same minimum firmware
From there, you can define a title for the Global Keys menu on the handset, together with up to 12 keys, each defined by a name and number
The title and the names will be shown on the handset once the Global Keys menu has been opened
Once that is done, you can save this page
It may be necessary to reboot the handsets for the correct icon to appearÂ
Setup via provisioning
The provisioning of this feature is not available for now, it will come in future firmware
Using the Global Keys on an handset
Once this has been set, and the handsets rebooted, a specific icon will appear on the handsets' display while idle
Pressing that icon will open the Global Keys menu, showing the title, each entry with its name and the number for the selected entry
By scrolling up and down it's possible to select different entries and to start a call either using the "Call" button at the bottom of the display or the green receiver key on the handset
Use during a call transfer/hold
The Global Keys menu can also be accessed during a call transfer or while the call is simply on hold
A "Global" key will appear once you put the call on hold or start the transfer, and can be used to access the Global Keys menu
By selecting the number you want to transfer the call to and pressing either "Transfer" or the green receiver on the handset, you can transfer the call to that specific number
Be aware, the transfer if always blind and there is no way around that
