Hi,
we have a M700 multicell with M65 handsets.

The central directory is configured with LDAP as source.

Lookup works fine.

On the M65 doing a LDAP search contains the correct entries but they are not sorted. (same configuration works on the snom desk phones)

My config is as follows:

Any help would be great. Thanks.

    I've found some news.

Snom is sorting the entries first my length, and afterwards by alphabet.

This is surely a bug in the Snom Firmware on the M700/M65

  2. Hi,

There is no sorting on LDAP entries coming from an LDAP server, so it may be they came that way from the server directly

We have a feature request for our developers about bringing that into our future firmware but we don't have a time frame on our roadmap for now, and it won't be brought in for the M700 as it's an old base station (Snom products lifecycle) but for the new devices only

    Thank you

For Snom Deskphone D3xx and D7xx sorting is working fine.

Sadly to hear that there won't be a fix for older devices. More E-Waste.

In my point of view this is a bug and not a feature request. Why is there a "Sort by" field which only contains LDAP attributes? The device is not fulfilling the specs listed/advertised on purchase.

  4. Hi,

I understand your point of view of course, but as in the page I've sent before (Snom products lifecycle) the M700 has been End Of Life since 2022, we cannot keep developing new firmware for end of life products and we usually have a 24 months window between the EOS and EOL status, so we can support products even if they are end of sales

I cannot reproduce your issue on an M700 or M900 on my side, meaning that there is no sorting of the LDAP and the way the contacts are showed on the handset is the same as I can see them in the LDAP packets incoming form the server

The "Sort by" field is passed to the server so it can sort the contacts when replying to the LDAP request, and to investigate this further (on an M900 likely, but to make sure any possible bug gets fixed) please raise a private ticket

You can do so if you're a Snom partner, or you can ask your Snom reseller (likely a partner) to do so for you

If you don't have a Snom reseller please contact our sales team, they can point you towards a Snom partner which should be able to help raising this with us https://www.snom.com/en/contact/contact-person/

    Thank you
