Description

This setting selects the wanted device as a ringer.

It is also possible to have both devices as ringer (speaker_and_headset) :

  • the ring melody will be played on the speaker of the phone and
  • the headset plays it's own built-in ring tone (e.g. 3 short beeps) and visual/auditive call announcement. Some USB headsets don't have a built-in ring tone, but may give a call announcement through a visual indicator (blinking LED).

Depending on the phone model, the preferred_audio_device setting may affect the behavior: On D1xx, D3xx, D7xx and SP800 series, the headset will never play the ring melody when the preferred_audio_device is configured to speaker. To avoid the implication of the preferred_audio_device setting, the "_enforced" values are available for that situation: no matter how the preferred_audio_device setting is configured, the configured ringer device is enforced.
