Before FW version V750B200
Yes, Snom M300, M400, M700, M900 support the so called differentiated ringtone feature.
Based on this feature, the PBX can distinguish between different type of calls (Internal, External, etc..) using the Alert-Info SIP header.
The handset will play a melody depending on the Alert-Info SIP header value.
The following table describes the supported header values and the associated melody.
Alert-Info SIP header | Melody |
Alert-Info: <http://www.notused.com>; info=external | Melody 1 |
Alert-Info: <http://www.notused.com>; info=vip | Melody 2 |
Alert-Info: <http://www.notused.com>; info=highpriority | Melody 3 |
Alert-Info: <http://www.notused.com>; info=lowpriority | Melody 4 |
Alert-Info: <http://www.notused.com>; info=blacklist | Melody 5 |
Alert-Info: <http://www.notused.com>; info=friends | Melody 6 |
In case you need to disable this feature you can disable the Remote Ring Tone Control setting under the server configuration (this setting is available since fw version 355B16).
Path to this Menu: WUI → Server
After FW version V750B200
Starting with FW V750B200, the base stations still support this feature, but it was changed to adapt to a more flexible scenario.
It's still controlled by the Remote Ring Tone Control setting but you can head into the Management menu and assign the text the base should expect coming in the Alert-Info header as below.
Now you can assign the ring tone you want to each different text incoming in the "Invite's Alert-Info header" (which still needs to be supported by the PBX)
