As a software based Open Standards solution, pascom phone systems can be deployed as a cloud or on-premise either as a hardware appliance or virtualized solution.
The objective of this document is to provide an easy step-by-step guide to get your Snom phone configured and ready to use on the Pascom Classic IP phone system.

Step 1: Adding new phones to Pascom phone system

Pascom Classic

In order to automatically deploy (auto-provision) Snom phones, a functioning DHCP server with the correct vendor specific option 66 defined is required.

Users and their extension numbers have been created on the Pascom PBX.

  1. Plug the Snom phone into the network. The IP phone will boot up, and get an IP address and the setting server URL assigned from the DHCP server.

  2. Pascom PBX automatically adds the new Snom phone to the device list under Devices > Device List. A corresponding SIP peer is automatically created and assigned. The SIP peer is a kind of dummy account provisioned to the phone. The Snom phone will display the correct language, time, and the text Emergency Only.

Before you start to deploy the first Snom phone, please make sure you have set a

new admin username and password, which will be applied to all provisioned Snom

phones.

Assign Users

After the IP phone appears in the Device list it can be edited. To do this, click Edit .

In the Assignment tab, a user (or workstation) can be assigned to the phone.

After saving and applying the telephony configuration, the newly assigned IP phones will reboot.

Pascom Cloud PBX

Log into your pascom cloud PBX instance, e.g. https://pascom.example.com

To add a new Snom phone,

  • go to the Device section and click on Add.

  • Select the option IP phone: Manufacturer Snom .
  • Select  the basic configuration template,

provide the phone MAC address, and an HTTP

username and password to protect the web interface

    of the phone.

MAC address: The MAC address can be found on the product label sticked to the backside of the phone,

or by going into the
phone Settings -> System Information .

  • Click Save to store the changes.

  • After saving the above changes, a job entry will appear in the Job Box (center top of screen)

which will need to be applied. Start the job by clicking on the green tick.

You will now be able to find the provisioning URL under Actions > Provisioning URL.

Search for your phone and copy the URL to the clipboard.

Step 2: Provisioning of the phone

Please make sure your phone is set up correctly.

Please check in advance that your phone has the latest stable firmware version installed.

If the phone has been in use before, please reset it to factory defaults to avoid that previous settings prevent a correct functioning of the phone.

You will need to provide the setting server URL to the phone, using the web user interface.

Enter your Snom Phones IP address into your Browser, e.g. http://192.168.0.10

and got to Advanced Settings > Update > Setting URL and pasted the copied Provisioning URL.

Click
Apply and finally Reboot .

After the restart the phone will be provisioned and can now be assigned to a user or to a location.

From the device list click "Edit", and then on "Assign". Click on the blue arrow of the user you want to assign to the phone.

After clicking on " Save " at the top of the Pascom interface a new dialog appears, which you have to confirm by clicking on the

green checkmarks.

The phone will now restart and is ready to use.

Step 3: Function keys configuration

As previously stated, Snom IP phones are provisioned using the default configurations which can be found under

Devices > Basic Configurations
.

The basic configuration is used for all Snom phones provisioned by Pascom PBX. If you want to provision different configuration

to different Snom phone models, groups of users, or even single users, you can do so by duplicating the default basic configuration

and adopting it to your needs.

Refer to Pascom’s online documentation which can be found under:

https://www.pascom.net/en/documentation/pascom/endpoints/ snom-ip-telephones-300-700-series/

Your Snom phone is now registered to the phone system.
